After you have learned the Tai Chi Form and you have embodied the first principles of Push Hands, you may as a student of our school begin to learn the Tai Chi Sword Form (Tai Chi Jian). Learning the Sword Form means to widen your consciousness to the longer reach of the sword. Holding a sword challenges your balance and asks for a deeper root. The weight of the Sword needs to sink through your roots to help you find a new dynamic between following and directing the Sword.
Moving the Sword is comparable to Chinese calligraphy where the yin and yang aspects of energy needs to express itself in the free and yet controlled flow of the ink on paper. Learning the Sword Form helps to open up to a new expression of your intrinsic energy.
